Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

We all need a boost of energy getting back to work and into our regular routines after the holiday break. I know we are all still thinking “oh for one more day of staying home and not coming into work” 🙂 Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but the break is over and we got to go on. So, give yourself a boost with the help of some vitamin C by making this easy three ingredient smoothie.

Ingredients:
2 organic peeled oranges
1 cup almond milk
1 peeled organic banana

Directions:
Place all ingredients in and blender and blend until smooth and creamy!

Now drink up!

Sunshine Juice

Morning!
I have the perfect drink to wake you up!
Push aside the Tropicana in the fridge and make yourself a clean drink that will be sure to be packed with vitamins and nutrients. What’s great about this drink is that there is a slight kick of heat from the ginger and cayenne pepper.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of water
2 oranges (peeled)
2 mandarins (peeled)
1 lime (peeled)
Juice from half a lemon
Chunk of ginger
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
3 dashes of cayenne pepper
1 tablespoons of organic honey

Directions:
Place the above noted ingredients into a Vitamix blender or juicer. Blend away and pour in a glass!

Flourless Orange Chocolate Cake

Oh ya chocolate cake!! I found this cake to be a hybrid of brownie and cake.
You guys are really going to enjoy this recipe. While on my travels to Carmel, California, I found this great olive oil store, Trio Carmel. They have an extensive list of fine olive oils and balsamic vinegars. The shop even recommends pairings of the olive oils with the vinegars.
A must is their blood orange olive oil. The citrus notes add a subtle taste of orange, without being overpowering.
Trio Carmel offered this chocolate cake recipe at their shop.

Ingredients:
5 oz quality bittersweet chocolate
1/3 cup TRIO CARMEL blood orange olive oil
1/2 cup of sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup of cocoa powder
Pinch of sea salt

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 F
Grease a 8 inch round pan and line with parchment paper.
In a double boiler melt the bittersweet chocolate and olive oil. Remove from heat and whisk in salt and sugar. Add one egg at a time whisking well after each addition. Sift in cocoa powder and whisk until well combined.
Pour batter into pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
Let cool for 5 minutes.
Drizzle some more olive oil on top and serve.
